the forms of Lawrence, Cross and
Jannings. Jannings sifted his way
through the pair for a third place
finish. Cross and Lawrence went toe to
toe in their fmal battle with Cross
taking founh by shooting the inside of
a tum.
Andy Jannings came back for a pair
of wins in the 500cc Pro class. Darren
Oliver (Yam) was hot on Jannings'
heels. but as the fint moto progressed,
Jannings gained ground with each lap.
Rusty Hunt. on a Can-Am for Valley
Cycle, and Wally Koch (Mai) swapped
third until the white flag lap when
Koch edged-Out leaving Hunt to dice
with Phil Taylor (Suz). They headed
to the checkered, with wheels in line,
which was called in Hunt's favor.
It was Oliver leadingJannings out of
the second gate. Oliver pulled in the
straights while Jannings got his
advantage in the turns. They tossed
the lead between them with Jannings
coming out on top. Koch moved into
second when it. appeared Oliver had
engine trouble and couldn't get up
enough steam to reclaim the position,
~ttling for a third finish.
Mike Yafchak and his Bakenfidd
Yamaha capped the 125 and 250cc
Imennediate classes. winning back to
back in each. Mike Lopez got the
holeshot in the fint 250cc mOlO but
went down, putting Will Barr (Hon) in
from and Darren Pritchett in second.
Yafchalt. who was buried in back of
the pack, rode furiously to work his'Way up.. ll wasn't until the last lap that
he took the lead. passing Barr over a
jump.· Jerry Martinez got by Dennis
Stubblefield to put the pass on
Pritchell and finish third.
The second time. Yafchak built a
healthy lead to the finish. Martinez
was solid in second while Keith Sims
and Lopez battled wildly for third,
which ended in Lopez's favor.
Martinez and Barr got the second and
third overalls.
Several riders and their fathers or
sponson, participated in a team race
in honor of Father's Day. Winning the
Mini race, was the team of Dwain and
Kenny Sdf. who had control from the
start. Buddy Dumo and sponsor Tom
Griffith were in fourth until Buddy
laid on the gas and picked up second a
few feet from the finish, in front of
John and Bobby Hoffman and Jerry
and Eric Palmer. The only 60cc bike
in the race was ridden by Alex and
David Rogers who faired well despite
the long legs of David - or was the
bike too short}
Can· AIDS took the first two spots for
the motorcycles. with the tearn of
Richard and Dick Shepard on top.
followed by Rick and Eddie Pruill.
Jad Trittler and Cindy Dumo finished
third, in front of Sid and Brand
Johnson. Manud and Joe Mejia and
Torn and Dan Griffith.
