Selvy did take th~ 250cc Ex~rt half mile win so the night was not a total disaster. Mike Kirby, a n~w rid~r at Corona. proved he had the stuff when he matched his mini against th~ 125cc bikes and came up with wins in both the short track and half mile. On the half mile Kirby chased Ron Bdl for over half th~ race befo~e h~ got by him with a slick pass on the front straightaway. Mike McCaul~ wasn't sure he was going to have enough gas to run both short track and half mil~ but he took the chance and it paid off with a double win in O~n Novice. Results SHORT TRACK 125oc: 1. JUNE 13 Each week the 250cc Intermediate class comes closer to losing Norman Nilsson, Norman is on a hot winning streak and is gaining so many CMC points that he is nearing the Pro ranks. Tonight Norman blew away this class for the win in Continental Mota-sports Club racing at lC. Agajanian's Ascot Park. The 250cc J ruermediate class was really wild and included plenty of crash and burn action. In the first moto several of the top forerunners were heading for the second turn when a major crash occurred. Todd Simmons (Suz) and Darrell Ritchey (Amx) went down after tangling up and Ritchey got th~ worst of it, hobbling away with a bad leg, and lat~r it was learned that he was given five stitches. Randy Rogers, on a Yamaha swept into th~ lead and cooked from there' in first. Nilsson (Han) charged in second and Daryl Hance (Suz) was third ov~r Shawn Mahn. who was the only Can-Am .entrant. . Nilsson proved his sp~d in the second mota and with an improved stan. jumped out into first plac~·. He was able to hold this top spot to the checkered flag, and this gave him a 21 score and a first overall trophy. R~rs was not too far behind and edged out all others for second and managed a fine 1-2· score for the second place trophy. Shawn Mahn and his 4·3 score beat out the rest for third. A new winner arose in the 125cc Pro class and this hap~ed to be jim Holl~. HolI~ hasn't b~n racing with the CMC too much lately and has been at the Dunes. Holley was able to beat out the usual class dominator, Todd Peterson, but mainly because Todd's bike pooped out. In the first mota Todd looked like he was going to score again on the big money and led to the finish line. Holley rrailed and AI Baker's FMF-sponsored Gregg Toyama held off everyone in third. The second moto turned Out to be a total fiasco for Peterson. J nstead of a great lead he was way behind and even pulled off of the side of the track to teU m~ the situation. Todd said that the DG Suzuki wasn't shifting right. so he'd have to wait for the 250cc Pro class to do his winning. From there on Holley led the crew and was untouchable. Toyama was 'next, but was being harassed by Chappy Blose' (Kaw) who went down once by the palm trees. but continued in third. When the money was handed out. Holley took first, followed by Toyama in second and-Blose in third. Results MINI JR: 1. Blake Vitali IYaml; 2. Duane Summers {Yaml: 3. Gary Ybarra ISuzl. MINIINT: 1. Skip Godinez {Kawl. 100 JR: 1.
