Trading places for second were Mark Caner (Yam) and Tim Holcombe (Yam) with Caner coming out on top. Ken Kaney (Yam) put in a consistent 4·4 ride for fourth. The Mini classes saw a familiar Kawasaki sweep with Jason Rincon winning the Novice class over Jim McManus (Suz) and Leonard Robertson (Suz) while his brother Joe Rincon put his green machine on top C!f the Beginners. CA,JUNE 3 "The Racin' Machine," Ronnie Lechien, went six for six in moto wins at Barona Oaks to stretch his win streak to an incredible 18 straight victories in Expert Minicycle action. However, this race meet wasn't quite so easy as another R&D Suzuki rider. Chris Morey, showed up to make a real contest out of tbe regular Mini classes. In the second round of the Modified Minicycles. Morey got a beautiful holeshot and it looked like the win streak was going bye· bye, but just as Lechien was closing in to a one bikelength second spot, it was all over as Morey's machine went sour· and Lechien was home free. The other two classes, the Stock SOcc Minis and the 105cc Minis. were no problem as Lechien led all laps to defeat ESC Suzuki rider Scott He><;att in the Stock class. and Team Kawasaki rider Richard Sands in the 105cc Minis. Morey was also snake· bit in the Stock· Minis as he experienced mechanical problems in the second round of that class, too. In the Intermediate 12-16 Stock class, Harry's Cycle Center rider Tracy Meeks took a tie breaker over R&D Suzuk.i rider Rudy Dickinson with a 3· I finish to Dick.inson's 2-2 scoring.
