T his left Cavness with a good lead over Tarantino who was safely ahead of Ron O tascia (Suz) who had passed bo th Jones and Morgan . Cavness motored on to the win followed by Tarantino and Otasia , Grossi remounted near the back of the pack and managed to work his wa y up to fifth at mow's end. The second moto start looked like an instant replay as Cavness shot into the lead with Grossi glued to his rear fender . The two riders began to run away from the pack but this time Cavness ta ng led with a lapped rider and went down lea ving Grossi with a big lead. Cavness remounted quickly lett ing only Otasia by but he ha d the steam kno cked out of him and wasn 't able to recatch Otasia or Grossi . Cavness took home the top money wit h a 1·3 score and first overall. O tasia poc keted th e seco nd p lace money and Gross i was third . Leading the first moto charge of 20so me 250cc Pro riders was J e ff Jenn ings (Suz) ahead of Ma rk Lawrence and Ku rt Sofka (C- A) . Next came Greg Blackwell (C -A), H u ff Hadley (Mai). Pete Snortland (Hon) and Goat Br eker (Hus). Breker stuck on Snortland's tail as the two riders passed H ad ley, Blackwell and Sofka to close in on the leaders. Breker th en made his move on Snorteland, closed on and passed Lawrence and nearly tagged J en nings at the checkers. Once again Jen nings displayed the best reflexes by taking the second m oto holeshot and leaving th e pack in his dust. Lawrence held the second spot at the end of the first lap followed by Breker and Kawasa ki-mou nted Matt • ~ Devich. And that's about the way it ended with Jennings well in front of Lawrence and Breker back in third . The best racing in the class came from Andy Guth on a Kawasaki and Snorteland who had a tremendous battle for fourth place with Snorteland coming out on top .
