In the 250cc J uniors , Seymour went two for two for the second straight week , The real dram a was in the way these two rid ers d id the jo b - both classes were real " ba rn burners" with the lead in doubt right 10 the checkered flag , While the Coca-Cola High School Series has become a runaway for Santa na for the top spot, the battle for second spot is turning into a real tight one as Montgomery and Monte Vista are really going at it . Monle Vista was dealt a real blow when standard be arer Clint Hardick suffered a hard spill in the second 250cc Pro moto and was unable to start the second moto of what would have been a sure 500cc victo ry. The best non-high school rider race of the evening was the 250cc Intermediates where Kawasa ki rid er Phil J ohnson scored his first victory at Speedway 117 with a 2-1 effort over fellow Ka wasak i rider Mark Smith who had a 1-3. He lost his rear brake arm in the first mala, yet still managed to pass a few riders and finish third. After the mala, he hustled home to gel a new brake arm , put it on , but finished fourth in the second rnoto. Zapata Espinoza (CBS) took both motos to vault himself int o third -place money in the standings whi le Dan Worley (Han), class leader coming into today's race , had problems and just cou ldn't get going. He still earned second in the final ta lly, SIeve Pfaff (Suz) took both motes of the 125 cc Interm ediates to ensure himself of second in points for that class. Scott Manning (Suz) co asted to a seventh to wrap up first in points whil e R obert Green 's (S uz) fifth over a ll moved him up a not ch to third .
