Allen Thomason got the second moto holeshot and first lap lead followed b y Darby , Levrett and ' Thaheld. On the second lap. however, Darby took the lead and Thaheld dropped from fourth to fifth . When lap six came around there had been a number of changes in the running order. Darby still led , but Levrett was now second and Thaheld was third with Bragdon in fourth . The mota ended with Darby getting the overall and Levrett grabbing a 3·2 second overall. Thomason wound-up third in the mota for fourth overall and Thaheld finished fifth but landed a third overall. The 250cc Experts matched hotshoe Allen Berluti against Jason Lamoreaux , Shawn Hybarger , and Jeff Cloutier, among ot hers. with the moto outcome somewhat of a surprise. Leaving the first co rn er in mota o ne it was Berluti , Hybarger, Cloutier and L~moreaux until the sixth lap when Hybarger bobbled and Cloutier slipped by into second. Lamoreaux also had trouble and dropped back about 10 seconds. The mota ended with B'erluti in front by five seconds, Cloutier ahead of Hybarger by a bike length and Lamoreaux. Hybarger got the holeshot in the second mota and never made a mistake, riding his lead to the mota win and second overall. Berluti rode in \ third behind Cloutier until the seventh lap when he berserked it into second. Lamoreaux fell early in the mota but worked back up to fourth . Although Berluti pressed for the lead . Hybarger refused to budge. Berluri finished second but topped the 250cc class. Cloutier tied up third overall. and Lamoreaux was fourth . Berluti dominated the Open class. winning both motos by more than five seco nds. In the first race Berluti pulled a holeshot and stretched out a five se cond lea d by the second lap . H ybarger was second with Cloutier th ird and Dick Buttner fourth .
