SEATTLE. WA, FEB. 11
. The Pacific Northwest's finest riders h ad a
chance to see what it was like riding the big- .
time . And see what it was like is what they did.
Six hundred 57 riders toured the m otocross
course the day after the Pros
had their payday.
The Sunday event was handled
by Hugh"Fleming of the AMA
and was staffed by AMA District 27
clubs from the area. To say that it
was run with efficiency is an
understatement. It was run with
precision.
As each class came to the line they
were flagged off for a two lap practice
run , They then came back to the same '
starting position. The starter hoisted
his one minute sign high over his head.
turned it sideways, lowered it to his
waist and they were off. This went on
for wave after wave of Amateur riders.
As was done the night before for the
Pros so be it for the future stars.
Eliminations were the same, so many
in each final. If you didn't finish high
enough you were eliminated , that
simple.
