Randy Hess holeshot the seco nd moto ah ead of Don Fuller and Glover, and held onto th e lead for th e first lap and a hal f. Glover moved fr om t hird to first in one lap , a nd began another romp that led him to lapping all but the first seven places aga in. Myer scough got off to a horrible start and was struggling alon g in 12th by th e end of the first lap, while Cantaloupi circulated in sixth beh ind Jeff Watts and Danny Turner. Cantaloupi pulled int o fifth on the next la p , but spent the first half of the moto try ing to bypass Watts and Fuller. When he finall y did take over second at th e halfway sign. Myerscough was right be hi n d and moving very quickl y. The dice was onl y a one-lap affair; Myerscough's Suzuki flat out·ran . Cantaloupi 's Yamaha. Positions held for th e rest of th e moto with Fuller picking up fourth , Scott Burnworth fift h and Watts sixt h. The last ma in event of th e d ay. th e 250cc Pros . was highlighted by Dann y Chandler. All Magoo needed for th e title wrap'up was a th ird or better , and knowing Chandler, it was de finitely go ing to be bett er . Magoo went down in a ta ngle off th e gate. got up dead last. and worked his way back up to second beh ind Pete Wa nk et at the fin ish . Magoo's wild , cras hi ng antics of last year. ha ve been replaced by a steady , faster, more concerned ' attitude towards ra cing. Danny still gets a littl e crazy on the track . but that's what m akes him go so fast ; an d that's what it takes to be a winner. Out front . W anket rode a flawl ess race after following Ma ico- rno un ted (not Husqvarna , as stated in ea rlier race reports) Carl os Serra no fr om Ar izon a. Serrano's a ir forks began pumping up after th e halfw ay m ark in t he moj o , an d they spi t him off in some rough cro ss-whoo ps on the ba ck section of the tra ck . Ran dy Losh was there to pa ss Serran o a la p prio r to the getoff, but Ch a ndl er took that position away from him three lap s fro m the fin ish . Serrano holeshot th e seco nd rnoto also. but t his tim e Magoo was in second by th e completion of the first lap. Myland Garrett and Las Veg as' Lenny Geig er were t hree- fou r th e first t or der was changed two la ps. but the th ird time a rou nd by Ge iger. Three la ps into the race, Chandler was trying an ything and ever ything to get around Serrano. but nothing worked . Finally , on th e fou rth lap , Chandler ou t -dragged Serrano into a tu rn and took th e lead for the rema inder of the race. Wanket suffered a bad start and had to work up from tenth. But in the process he slid out on the second lap and could only get back up to seven th by mote's end. Serrano and Geiger held their position behind Chandler for the finish. and Magoo wrapped up the 250cc title with a beautiful onehanded wheelie across the finish line. Results 500 PRO: 1.
