rtew Dt85 wiiIs. Tullis andAdams take "'I D-37 plates.
Honda-mounted Jay Thllis fourstroked his way to the overall win at
the Desert M. C. Diamond Back II
Enduro on his new Honda XR185. The
win capped off another successful
season for Tullis, who had already
wrapped up the AMA District 37 200A
class #1 plate.
Jay began the season aboard his
_ quick Honda MR175, but switched to
the new four-stroke XR185 as soon as
it was available. Jays XR featured
suspension modifications only.
The rest of the bike, including the engine, was box stock. ~ the course of
maintaining the demanding time schedule, Jay had to overtake the new 1979
#1 Open class rider and his 450 cc machine. To the amazement of all, Jay and
the quick 216-pound (dry) XR pulled it
off! Jay credits the machines wide
powerband, top-end steam and excellent Honda-designed claw-action tires
for making the difference.
More good news for Honda fans
came from Mike Adams, who has captured the #1 D-37 plate in the 250A
class. Adams, who accomplished his
feat on a modified Honda CR25OM, is
looking forward to next season and a
hot new Honda XR250 four-stroke on
which to do battle. As evidenced by the
new XR185S impressive victory, all of
the hot new XR enduros-from the 185
to the mighty XRSOO-are ready and
equipped to do business in checkpoint
land.
If you're preparing for a tough new
season of time schedules and speed
averages, then check out the new fourstroke Honda XRs. They're waiting for
you at your Honda dealer today.
