In the young 'u ns ivision , there were exciting battles rly on between Jim O 'Neal (Kolbe on ), who 'd run earlier in the Pro ass, ISDT veteran Lars Larsson uz) . and motocross/ Baja vet Bill ilverthorne, Larsson too k both ho leots bu t O'Neal ended up with the ad bo th times to win without too uc h hassle . even when he a nd Silver horne b um ped in the second mota d O 'Neal ended up sta lled. Ha llman ponsored La rsson was seco nd over ilver thorne of Lemo n Grove Suzuki. In the older O ld T im ers Division . lick Ma nn won handily, In the first 10tO he started sixth , but was second ehi nd Feets Minert a t the end of on e . nd pass ed him sho rt ly thereafter 10 'in ' going awa y. CCM -m ounted larsh all J ennin gs (fath er of rn oto rosser JeffJ ennings) was th ird . Mann was seco nd o ut of th e gat e in moto two. again behind Minert , but this time Bugsy got by before the end of lap one. The ra ce was combined with the other Old T im ers division (sep ara te starts) and Bugsy shook off the 30 'second advantage and was fourth overall at the end of the shortened six-la p event , There was also a Vintage/Twin/ Dinosa u r class , wh ich went 10 Mike Hair and his beauti ful Trumpet twin with lill ie competition. Sidehacks closed the show (literally. the sun wa s down by the time they finished) a nd th ere was a 101 of banzai action on the som ewha t na rro w - for sid ehacks , a nyway - track. T he team of Tom and Pete W hitney ended up winni ng both motes, but they had 10 do some be rserk pass ing alo ng th e way . The schedule and length of races was a little o ptimistic. and to get the show through with. races had to be combined and shortened . and o ne ;ace (two-stroke support) had to be cancelled.
