O CT . 7-8 Some of the top riders a round showed up to take their sha re of t he $3,000 purse offered by t he Am erican Motocross Enterprises a t H uron Cycle Park. Sa tu rday p roved to be a very good day for Kol be Ca n -Am rider Greg Rob ert son as he rode to back to ba ck wins in the O pen Pr o class _and t he overall win in the 250cc Pro class . T he first moro of th e 25 0cc clas s saw th e win goi ng to Ma ico rider Danny " Magoo" Chandl er with second goi ng to Robertson and th ir d goi ng to Ya m aha rider Do nn ie H an se n (Shoe ma ker 's Cycle). In the second mot o the ro les were reve rse d wit h the wi n go ing to R o b e rtso n and C ha nd ler ta king second. T he overall order was the sa me with third goi ng to Ha nsen . In th e Open Pr o class we aga in saw the strong riding Robertson taking co m ma nd of the race with back to b ack wins . Second went to Maicomounted Don Franklin wit h another Kolbe Ca n -Am rider . Eddie Cole. ta king home thi rd . Su nday looked like a repea t of Sa tu rday's race with Robertson tak in g the overa ll win in the 250cc Pro class and win ni ng mot o one of the O pen Pros. But du e to an inj ury to his hands . he ha d to back out of mota two of the Open class. In th e 250 cc class m ot o one saw Rob er tson taking th e win with second go ing to Ma ic o -m ounted D av e Williams and th ird go ing to Dannie Hansen (Shoe maker's Cycle Yam). Mot o two saw t he win going to strong ridi ng Mago o Chandler (Pro T ee T ra iler Mai ) with Robert son settli ng for seco nd a nd Ha nsen again in third. The overa ll for the d ay went to Rob ertson , with Hansen tak ing se co n d a n d th ir d go ing to Don Franklin (Franklin Painti ng Ma i). . In th e first ro u nd it was Sperry and Minnig 1·2 bu t Irwin Mo on and Pa t , Dob bins were making a race of it. On th e nex t -to- last lap Pat went to th e insid e goin g down th e hill and za pped Irwin bu t th e two of them made it to" ~ th e flag almost side by side . Nex t round, Dobbins got between Spe rry a nd Minnig for a spe ll but Mikell found th e better line going up th e hill a nd took second agai n .
