fellow who came within three points of
winning the class points title las t
season.
Wolfe ( 1:43) was first off the line,
wi th Toomey and Fuller in his
slipstream. Fuller moved into second
place on the second la p, but Toomey
went back by Dick two laps later.
Wolfe and Toomey swapped the lead
several times on the fifth la p. Coming
around onto the front straight on the
sixth lap Wolfe went off into the dirt
at tum nine, but didn't lose second
place. Toomey (with some quick 1:42
closing laps) took advantage of Thad's
excursion to lock u p first place. Wolfe
still leads Toomey in points 42 ·40.
Dick Kilgroe (Kaw , 1:40) cruised to
victory in the Four-Stroke G P race,
but fought a losing ba ttle to keep up
with Steve Mallonee (Warland Eng.
Kaw, 1:39) in the Super Cafe race. In
other big bike action , Open
Production winner Lee Fleming (Du c)
scored his second victory of the day
over teammate, business partner , and
friend Whitney Blakeslee (Kaw) in th e
Open Box Stock race.
