Swearlnger, Johnson grab AME MlniMX By Judy Greenberg Photo by Bob Greenberg 1 VALENCIA , CA , SEPT. 15 Raymond Swearinger picked up the overalls for the Stock and Modified Junior Cycle Intermediates during Friday night competition with American Minicycle Association at Indian Dunes. Swearinger and his Suzuki holeshot the first mota . of the Modified class, followed by Todd Bess (Itj). Marty Rickard, in his first Intermediate race. put th e pressure on Bess, and moved into second. Bess turned on the gas to take it 'back in the straight. From the re on it was a see-saw battle, as th ey closed ground on Swearinger. Tension mounted in the last lap. with Swearinger heading home with a slim margin. as Bess used the ess to wind up in second place. Rickard took command at the sta rt of moto two. It was Swear inger and Bess moving through a large pa ck , with half a bikelength between them . With some lucky moves, Swearinger found some breathing room and charged after Rickard . Inspired by the last lap flag , he then took the lead, but Rickard jumped in front for the win at the finish , taking a second overall. Mike Wolfe was first off the line in the Modified 12 years-and-over Juniors . but soon lost it to Brand Johnson. As Johnson pulled away. the action remained in second place with Wolfe. Russel Wolfe, an d RickJurado banging wheels in a tight battle of down to the wireexeitement. J urado came out to finish second, Russel Wolfe third. The second time it was Johnson off to a healthy lead. Mike Wolfe kept several paces in front of Russel Wolfe and Pat Walsh . Jurado threw his CH Performance machine into gear to get by Walsh , then worked on Russel Wolfe as the y closed in on Mike Wolfe. A melee took place as the trio rounded th e course for the last time, toe to toe in every tum. with Jurado finishing second behind Johnson. Results PEEWEE MOD: 1. Julltin Souza ISuzl .
