Unfortunately for Johns, his first mote tangle with Moorewood ' caused him to spill, leaving him with such a poor finish that he completed the day in only fourth place. Moorewood, meanwhile. drove his Yamaha into second place the second time around which gave him first overall for the day. Musgrave dropped to second overall after fending off Moorewood for most of the race, only to let him by in the final la ps. Guth placed third overall. _ Pat Hubbs took command of both 125cc Pro motos. Jason Yodogawa had the holeshot but Hubbs stole the position at the close of the first lap and led the rest of the way . Yodogawa later stripped the bolt off his rear axle and bailed off, dislocating his shoulder. Ron Stablein finished second in the first race and Eddie Weardon placed third. In the second moto, Yodogawa ta ped his shoulder back into place, borrowed an axle bolt from Hubbs, and led the race for awhile. Hubbs - started the race dead last but quickly worked his wa y up to second , just behind Yodogawa . Going into the second turn, Mayfield's Maico went by in such a blur that Clark pulled his foot off the peg and swerved, letting Foltz, another Maico man , past also. Mayfield and Foltz pulled such a lead on the pack that when Foltz's shifter fell off his bike three-quarters through the moto, he was still able to finish an easy second behind Mayfield. For the second moto, Foltz got his gears together and ran a non-stop run to. the checkered flag , taking first overall . Mayfield had it a little rougher. Starting fourth he had to work his way around Yamahamounted Ty Richey and John Clark. Both went down under the unrelenting pressure of his drive , and Mayfield wound up second where he placed for the day with Clark third. Lance Moorewood took first overall in the 250cc Pros without winning either moto. The first time around, Orange County Suzuki rider Andy Guth stormed the race , finishing first with Honda-mounted Mitch Musgrave following him in for second with DG sponsored Moorewood in third. Agajanian's famous Ascot Park . Rainy skies are enough to scare any outdoor racing promoter, and the rains scratched the previous week 's program. The racers and fans returned to find the Ascot track in good condition for this race , which was kind of fun and fast with the whole event climaxing before 10 p .m . Overall this has been a pretty decent season of nighttime motocross with a ~ouple of big Pro drawing points races. For the next couple of weeks they are putting together a special back- to-school series with a chunk of money being offered for the winning Pros . The word is not official yet, but I suggest that you get in on the coming racing action because the season will most likely close after September. 1£ you want to watch a class tha t is full of excitement. be sure to check out the 250ccJunior pack. This machine did the track in this class and also for Todd Peterson, who won the 250cc Pro class tonight with his first attempt. Farley proved his bike by not only getting the better starts, but also by zooming through the finish flag man in first place in both motos , beating Jeff Ortberg of Moto Meister, Larry Marino, Dwayne Brothers. and .
