Richard BAKERSFIELD, CA , SEPT. 2 Open Pro rider Andy Jannings (Cole Bros . Maico) put together another win for himself at American Motocross Enterprises night motocross at Sprockets Park. In the first moto it was Jannings, followed by Bill Hagen (Yam / Murry's) in a close ba ttl e for second with Ste ve Richard (Mal- Ca noga Park Suzuki) in close pursu it of Hagen. Hagen and Richard battled the entire moto, but a t the end it was J annings crossing the line in first , with Hagen nabbing second and Richard taking third. The second moto sa w Dave Haugh (Mal- Ca noga Park Suzuki ) get the holeshot with J a n ni ngs (Cole Bros. Ma ico ) in second. The battle was going on again between Hagen and Richard for third . At the end of t he race it was Haugh , Jannings, Hagen, and Richard. But the overall win went to Jannings with sec ond go ing to Hagen and third going to Richard . Haugh made it look easy in the 250cc Pro race with two back to back wins . Jannings had to settle for second place. AME has a halftime R a ce of Champions with the top two Pros from the 250 , Open and U5cc classes running the course backwards. It proved to be qu ite a duel between 125cc Pro rider Jeff Stubblefield and 250cc Pro rider Dave Haugh. From the start it looked like Stubblefield had the race b ut Haugh made a hard drive to take the win and the money home. In the 125cc Pro class it was Jeff Stubblefield who took home top honors with two back to back wins. Darrell Wins Again. This time the Dirt Diggers 250 GP. On top of his spectacular performance in the 500cc Nationals, Darrell agai n challenged the factory teams in the 20th Annual Dirt Diggers classic at California's Escape Country on Sept. l Oth . Lackey, Mosier, Eierstedt , DiStefano , Weinert, Sernics, Reid , Tripes - they were all there. America's fastest new star stu ffed the top money in his leathers with a moto win and a second.
