Listed belo w a re recommendations for areas by number and names of the areas as you may know them. Many of the areas listed as potent ia l wilderness study areas were originally designated as open. as roads and trails. or as existing vehicle travel routes . These five areas wer e considered open areas according to the '74 ICMP : Roadless Area #I! O: Ol ancha . Good desert racing area . Roadless A r ea U 25 : McCoy Mountains. Ford Dry Lake. Used quite frequently by O R V campers. Easy access for users from San Diego and O ra nge Cou nt y. The area is close by Blyt he Airport and Blyt he O rn n i , causing undue airplane traffic in th e area. There are mines and springs in the area which will be affected by a wilderness setting. Roadfess A r ea l! SO: Little Chuckwalla Mtsn. Good rockhound area .for opals and agates . R ugg ed terrain for the experienced biker or four wheel vehicle driver. Roadless A r ea U60 : Mammoth Wash , Im perial Sa nd Dunes (north). Needs a corridor from one open area to another.
