AME Sprockets goes to Pizza freaks By Tom Corley BA KERSFIELD , CA, AUG . 19 American Motocross Enterprises is having the best of racing take place at the great lit tle tra ck of Sprockets Park in Bakersfield . Ever y other Saturday night the ligh ts are turned on and excellent nigh t motocross is seen. Eigh teen different classes ran two motos this evening for a good show that last till midnight. Usually it is good to race evenings around this part of the state because the temperatures 'a re unreal during the daytime . Even in the even ing it can be warm , a nd the last race includedSb d egree weat her. Tonight it was somewhat more enjoyable d ue to a better humidity . Jerry Shor e of. AME gives away some excellent prizes to the winning riders . In this race. Jerry gave away a free pizza p rize to a ll six th place win ners at the nearby Ye Ole Pizza house . Sou n ds like a great prize for t hose who just missed winning a trophy. One of these fortunate pizza win ners happe ned to be Ga ry La ird , who claimed the sixth place righ ts to t he I25cc Ju nior class . Hopefully he appreciated it, but then agai n we should realize that his sponsor ha ppens to be Gil's Food Market, so he probab ly has a ll the grub he desires. T his class had other winners too. but they grabbed the neat trophies. Bria n Reaves won the biggest one wit h first overa ll to his na me . Walt O lson was mounted aboa rd a quick new Can -Am and he creamed t he pack in the first moto and then pulled the same number on t hem again in the second . His brother Kevin Olson was looking j ust about. as fast o n a Maico.
