When the ch eckered fell it was Brand with a huge sm ile . ahead of O 'Neal , Christ enson. Sixberry and Sanchez. Griffin's com petition in class finished fourth overall Tom Bice , Ray Daily was third Amateur. Novice winner Pat Green ou t-rod e Dave Stewart and Reid Rendell for his win. The Begi nner win went to Erwin R itt er, then Roger Zela , Mike Hivson and Wayne Scott. The last tango of the day . sponsored by Yamaha and Bosch. was just ~ exciting as th e first race. Charlie Hamill took com m a nd of the lead stretching it in to a 100-yard cushion. Lap a fter lap it stayed the same but this you ng man on a new Suzuki started making his move at the mark , Steve Wiseman. The last three laps, Steve was a b ikelength behind Charlie . The checkered unfurled and the crowd went wild as Wiseman dove under Hamill in every turn . his fro m tire on Charlie's footpeg . Hamill won. Wisem an wa s second . and th ird overall went to Am at eu r John Foster. Paul Smith was second Amateur. Greg Winter third . Warren Kelsey was third Expert . with Garry Co nner next.
