Wosick (Yam ) carved his way through traffic to overtake Woodhall and eventually cruise to victory . The 250cc Pro b attle was a heavy . show with the return of Fremont ac e Phil Crane. Crane , wh o was se tti ng up his new Honda , showed good form as he picked up third pl ac e money . Taggart, Rucker roost Hyrum MX By Maxie Abernethy HY RUM , UT ,JUNE 10 Hyrum dust was no problem to Steve T agga rt (Yam) as he ho leshot the 250cc Amateur class and banzaied both motos . Brett Jorgensen (Suz) and Ken Neilson (H o n) skirmished in their own little cloud until Jorgensen zoomed by for seco nd . Taggart was a lready there wit h the win securely snagged. Randy W yn off (S uz) se ized the comet's tail and rod e to the win in the first moto of the 125cc Experts. Danny W ood (Yam) squashed Ra nd y Thom as (Suz), then took off to ambu sh W ynoff. but the checks cu rta iled the a ttack . Ivan Kaumas { Yarn) romped around- with Gary Neff unt il he real ized that the Kawasaki crus he r wasn 't a bout' to be m essed with . Wynoff went for the - holeshot th e second time , but Neff sco red in with a heavy assau lt and knocked him back to d ice with Wood . They fought until Neff left the track and Wood's mount got bent o ut of sh ape and threw a . c ha in . M arshall Bird (Suz) now enjoyed second b ut Brent Butterfield (Suz) buzzed by with a neat lit tl e co rne r cut. Neff found the right gea ring and headed for the ch eck ered flag , Butterfield held down seco nd a nd Kau m as brought third . H yrum took th e 25 0cc a nd Open Experts, m ixed 'em with a dash of Open Ama teurs and wh ip pe d u p a smorgasbord of fierce competition. What a mess ! As they crashed over the gate, the Open Experts appeared to be the main men. The first one up the hill was Mike Lambome (Y am) and close behind anothe r 250cc Expert, Detlef Sc hwurack (Mai). What happe ne d to the big bikes? Lu rk ing in the shadows , J oel Rucker (Mai) fin a lly found the line and stuck it to the stops in hot pursuit of Schwurack and Lambom e . Fin d ing Schwurack in h is way , R u cker captured second a nd then bea ded in on Lambome. T he track trembled with the steady drumming o f R u cker 's kno bbies as h e drove towards Lambome. H~ shot into the lead and hel d a steady course to the checkers. Eating d ust is not Rucker's favorite m eal , so when t he second m oto got underw ay, he grabbed the holesho~" Kim Leydsman (M ai) followed on his tail' a nd scoped for passi ng room, but t he power eluded when t he slim chance appeared. R u cker ran it all the way for first overall and Leydsman flashed in seco nd .
