.......................................................... finish ed a stro ng th ird , a nd came back to blast a nother large field of I25cc Pros in a second moto win over John Tessitore and Hardick. It was a th ree -way tie-breaker as Hardick had th e first moto win with Tessitore second and Hess third - some super racing with th e finish in doubt right up to th e checker. In Intermediate action . th e wildest class had to be the 250s where Rick Relucio put together a thi rd and a second to take a tie-breaker first over Greg Meyers who had a first and a fourth . Scott Meyer returned to top form for an eas y I25cc Intermediate win and Tracy McMillen continued his 500cc domination as he completely ripped a good field for his second straight win since turning Intermediate. McMillen has picked up a sponsor in San Diego Suzuki and should be moving into the Pro ranks before the end of the summer season. The Juniors were as always - wild. "Diamonds in the rough" appear to be Marty Koening in the I25s. Scott Weinbrandt in the 250s and you ng Randy Norman in the 500s. W ith school out. the " Mig hty Minis" turned out in goodl y numbers and first yea r rid er Kevin Gens ler , who found out how to d o it with double vict ories in Ba ron a last Sunda y. con tinued his winni ng wa ys with a tie -b reaker second moto win over teammate Kenny Dunlap. JUNE 21 The summer wea ther brought Novices and Pros alik e to Corona Raceway 'W ed nesd ay night to challenge the TT and Half Mile courses. The Mon ey TT that originally started with four , ende d up a m at ch race between Ea rl Roloff and Chris Cannon, newly parted from casts on both arms. Roloff clea rly had the advantage over Cannon wit h a few more ponies to play with . Cannon stayed close but it was definitel y Roloff all th e way. The 250cc Money hal f mil e aga in saw th e Simi Flash , Pete Hames, in ' total control. The rest of the field mixed it up pretty well. Chris Ca nnon was off second with Todd Brown in third place. Cannon .was able. to hold Brown off for one more lap before Brown slip ped underneath him to ta ke over second. From there on out th e field was set a nd it was Hames, Bro wn and Cannon. It was a large field of O pe n bikes that ca m e to th e line for the Mon ey hal f mile and th e first few la ps were wild as the riders got th emselves sorted ou t. It was Mike Minnig who went ou t on top with Wayne Ra iney and Pet e Hames in second and th ird. Back in fourth . hut not for long. was Craig Armstrong with Danny Perkins , Earl Roloff and ScottShoup rounding out the field . Armstrong made th e first move slipping under Hames about the same tim e Rainey decided to make contract with the terra firma in turn two . Perkins got by Hames on the next lap and th e top three were se t for th e duration. Minnig looked extremely strong in his victory and if he continues to rid e like he has .he will be a force to be reckoned with . Roloff and Jim Milburn went head to head in t he Open Amateur/Expert half m ile as Roloff went out on top and Milburn picked off Bill Canin on th e first lap to move to second a nd then one lap later took ca re of Roloff to take the lead. Roloff kep t the p ressure. on bu t Milburn was not to be den ied . Todd Brown had his work cut ou t for him in the 250cc Expert half mile. Brown br oke on top with Arnm ex mounted T erry Singl eton a nd Ross Klatt right behind him . Although t he positions d id n't change. the th ree were running very close togeth er a nd th e slightest mistake cou ld be fa tal. Singleton found it out the hard way on th e white flag la p when he made a small misc alculation and Kla tt was th ere to take full advantage of th e situation. Brown had the win with Klatt second and Singleton third. Shawn Pettis did the honors for th e Amateurs. going wire to wire over Ben Meyer and Tommy Walton. It was musical chairs in th e Open Expert TT as Danny Hockie jumped out first with Roloff and Bobby Sanders in the two/ three spo ts. Hockie lasted three la ps before his bike became sick and Roloff took over. Sanders hung in th ere b ut Roloff was having one of those nights when nothing goes wrong. Ross Klatt was on target all the way in the 250cc Amateur/Expert , TT. Nobody got even close enough to challenge his sm ooth running Yamaha or h is style. The younge r mem ber of the Roloff fami ly. Craig . gave it a good try bu t by the time he got aroun d Ben Meyer . Klatt had gotten too mu ch dayligh t on him a nd tim e ran out. e • , ~ e E THE VERr BEST or -. 60 pages Order ....". ....,..
