The American Federation of Motorcyclists'
T hird Annual Golden Gate Challenge was
blitzed by Randy Mamola , who crowned a
perfect weekend of racing by sweeping to an
easy victory. Mamola, the Santa
Clara, CA resident , ha d little
trouble in d isp osing of his
competitors. They represented

the fastest 20 individuals based on lap
times from the previous day's heat
races. A wide range of bikes, from
Production to GP to AMA -style
superbikes, were incl uded in that top
20. Ra ndy achieved his win in his
usual fashion a t Sears Point: lead off
at the flag , widen the lea d , a nd win by
a comforta ble margin. Mamo la
