M att J ames was the first one to hi t payd irt as he powered his big Triumph to an ea rly lead in the Mo ney TT and was never seriously cha llenged . Steve Cullinan got his Can -Am out in second but enco u ntered Bobby Ga ra bed ia n . who nipped a t his heels fo r six la ps and finally got around him as the wh ite n ag came out. To add insult -to injury . Hames continued to hold a commanding lead until the ninth lap when he went down and Brown and Dorothy Rowe were able 10 get by him before he got h im self rig h ted . Now it was catch-up time a nd Hames had a hard wa y to go . With three laps to go H ames pi ck ed off Row e but time ran out and the win went 10 Brown. Twelve Open Pros came to th e lin e or it should be said that II Pros and Wayne Ra iney on Waffle's 250cc. The week before. Ra iney had pi cked up hte wins in all three money classes so with his cu r rent hot streak the riders were grateful for any handicap Ra in ey had. It was Steve Fortune who brok e ou t on to p with Mike Minnig and Dan McWhorter in second a nd third . Rainey was sitting in the fourth spot . playing the waiting game wh ich was n't long in com ing. H e m oved 10 third and at the sa me tim e M innig took over the lead from Fortune. Perkins came charging 10 put a move on Ra in ey that got him third place. Perkins then took Fortune and set his sig hts on Minnig. who was really tearing up th e track . Rai ney ca me fighting back on t he eig hth la p and m oved to second with Perkins dropping 10 t hird .
