This week the mighty troops assembled at Racing U.Worid to joust about th.e California course. Leading the Open Pro troops was Norstar Warrior Goat Breker, who ' s: mounted on his high struttin' Husqvarna , stayed in command of the _ _ seige from the first turns to the flag of .r. victory. Breker, bearing. battle scars from a former fight, only last week had pins and stitches removed from his , recent broken ankle. In his own words, " It hurts too bad to race good ... I can't put my foot down on left turns. " But the pain didn't stop him from mangling the opposition. Just about everything went wrong with Open Pro Mark Brooks' bike; his rear brake was dragging. the front brake was adjusted t60 far in , he spun s a tube (but maintained enough air to finish), and his oil plug popped out, leaving his gear box dry. Still in the first lap he passed a line of recruits to zoom into a flight path behind Breker. & He spent most of the moto looking for a way to blast past but in the ninth lap got caught behind a couple of lapped riders and Goat ran away with the purse. Brooks finished second. Chris Hackman hopped into an early third place slot but Breker and Brooks were so far out front , Hackman had to wait until the race was over to find out who I OJ-wo n . The second time around , Breker again bravely battled his way 'to glory. . Hackman got into second for the first four laps but bombardier Brooks bombarded his way up to take it over . The 125cc Pro fighters winged their way into flight formation . At the drop of the gate , Yamaha Motor's A.J. Whiting flew into first and held it to win .
