Lutz moved up accordingly. with E. Rittner . third . Mathes got back up to take fourth. The last race of the day was the 250cc Beginner-Novices. C . Wangurd took the win over S. Bushnell. second , and B. Ashcraft . third. Sunday got off with the 250cc Amateur/Experts first on the starting line. Beginning with a straddle-thefront -wheel -banner sta rt that started all of the cla sses. Bob Rutten zipped into the lead. Rutten . who finished seco n d Expert smallbore the day before, stretched his lead and looked unaprroachable until r ea r brake problems put his Harley out of the r a ce . P . Christensen inherited the lead , finish ing with Danny Sanchez and Mike Eckardt in tow , The second event of the day combined the Women's and Senior classes. Overall winners were Nate Sciacqua , first . with A, Stinebaugh and J. McGraw second and third respectively . Of the Women . Trudy Beck took th e win , followed by Kathy Wiseman and Su e Hopkins. • The Open Beginner/Novic and Sidehack classes shared the same track for 75 minutes during the afternoon. Bru ce Felker and Paul Huffman were both Can-Am-mounted and took the first while Steve 1 two places.on a Husky.Downing finished third In the Sidehacks, John Deacon and Gordon MacLean piloted a nearly stock 900 Kawasaki to a big win . Except for the addition of the chair and a change in handlebars, the Kawi looked out of place compared to the competition. James and Gary Milton rode a 360 ~ Yamaha to fill second with Yamaha mounted Bob H icks and Al DeCosta third . The final race of the GP was the Open Amateur/Experts. Mike Sixberry (Yam) grabbed the lead off the start. followed by Craig Adams (KT M) and Chuck Pettigrew (Mai). Six b erry's lead was slowly being 't rim med by Adams as both riders resorted to some radical riding as they made their way around . About halfway through the race , Adams broke his chain a nd was down for a cou pie of la ps until he got back on the track. Taking over for Adams . Pettigrew started to put the heat on Six berry as he began to tire toward the end of the race. Mike took the win over Chuck with less than six seconds to spa re . Troy Hollis (Suz) took third . All riders thought that the Hi-Siders had done a really fine job. Considering that this was their first GP . it wasn 't a bad job.
