T erry Singleton had his moment of glory as th e 250cc Amateur/Expert half mile had his name on it and no one was abl e to touch him . Mark Butler and Steve Stivers were second and third in that one. Dave Peters broke on top in th e Open Amateur/Expert short tr ack . but Shawn Leipold came blasting around and moved from third to first by lap two . It was too much for the bike as transmission problems cut his race short. Pet er s was back on top but the m echanical finger of fate touched him and T er ry Statum was in control with Ra y Lovell moving to second. Pet ers got things sort ed ou t but th e cost had been toO g rea t and he had to sett le for third . MAY 7 The race held at Edwards Air Force Base by the Over the Hill Gang was a smashing success. At the "Over the Hill Gang Motocross Nationals." the Gang was given kudos by almost all who attended. Adding to great weather and a super-challenging track. the " freebies" (thanks to a long list of contributors) were accepted graciously by all the entrants. There were give-aways galore. Every entrant received something. Everyone was more than willing to lend a hand as the race day went off right on schedule. One hundred fourteen O T H G A members showed their colors including the North and Las Vegas chapters. A large number of the Old Timers MX Association and Veteran class riders helped to make the race a topic of bench racing for a time to come. Some classes were split into A and B divisions because of the lack or space at the starting gate. This was the case of our Novice "A" division which was won by Yamaha -mounted Jester Jerry who finished I-I for a secure first overall. o $2,0 250cc AMfEX: 1. Te.-ry Singleton IA m me x); 2. mar k.
