Boody entered a 19·year-old 900cc HarleyDavidson that unfortunate~ showed its age the second time out on the course. In the first race, Danny Hockie led the charge around the first tum and up through the first few comers. Boody closed quickly and made his move for the lead on the second lap. Hockie slipped back and let both Boody and Mike Haney by. T he moto ended with Boody winning, Haney second and Hackie third. For the second moto, Boody came out third off the line and when the pack came out of the back section, the shift lever on his H· D just hung, indicating a blown tranny. u i Haney brought his Triumph into first as a tight battle ensued among Haney, Jon Clark and Walt Foster (Yam). Foster held on to second as another rider who made the Ascot National field , John Hat eley, ciught up to third place at the flag. , In the third moto, Haney, Foster and Clark shot out in front of the pack immediately, with dicing going on that averaged a pass a lap. Clark put up a good fight early, but Haney and Foster slid by and that's how the mota ended . Overalls went Foster, who failed to score a win, Haney and Clark.
