switched positions in the second moto
when Vandenberg let Vick squeeze by
in the top of the seventh lap. Vick took
second overall and Vandenberg
followed h im in for third overall.
Noteworthy was 125cc Pro David
Behlings , who won his first overall
victo ry by outracing Yamaha Motor
Corporation-sponsored A.J. .Whiting.
John Atwood won both rnotos of the
250CC Pro race and Greg Eargle made
a clean sweep to become overall

winner in the Open Pros.

Breakdowns were the o rder of
the night a t Corona Raceway's
half mile/TT as ri ders made
last m inute adjustments to their
eq uipment before th e San J ose AMA
Camel Pro Ser ies mi le.
Don "T Bone" Grigsby had his
- nam e all over the 750cc Money hal f
mile as he led the way wire-to-wire.

between Do rothy Rowe and Mike
Minnig for seco nd . Rowe .had a slig ht
Ihad a slight advantage at the end of
lap one. Minnig proved chivalry _
. t least on the track - was dead, as he
came back strong and was in front of
her as they hit the front straight on lap
' two. For three more laps it was
Grigsby, Minnig and . Rowe but
Dorothy was not about to give up and
her chance came on the fifth lap and
. once again she was in second . O n the
eigh th lap Dorothy made a mistake.
She went high between turns three and
four and Minnig was there to slip
-undernea th. Wit h one more lap to go
Minnig was ab le to hold off Dorothy
for seco nd.

Dorothy fared much bett er in the
Open Expert ha lf m ile, ho lding Steve
Fortu ne a nd Doug Hannon in the two!
three spots.
) Pete Hames didn't ge t off the line
first in the 250cc Money half mile but
he had caught Terry Singleton by the
first tu rn to claim the numero uno
spot. Todd Brown locked into second
but he was not allowed to move any
further . Terry Singleton rounded out
the field with third .
Man James, one of the most
'im p roved riders over the past year ,
went head-to -head with Arnmexmounted former National motocross
champion Gary Jones in the Money
TT. Jones, who really seems to enjoy
flat track, tried every trick he knew to
get around James and his big Triumph
but power was the name of th e game
and the Ammex was no match for the
Triumph.
~ Jones did romp home in th e 250cc
. Amateur/Expert TT going wire -towire over Eddie Drake.
