Burnworth. meanwhile, was back up and into the race in a matter of seconds he caught and passed Glover and , as he came up to Collins in the hairpin turn, he cut under Collins. Collins went down , putting Glover back into the third place spot. The second rnoro was almost a carbon copy, as again it was Burnworth and Dirks off the line first with Glover and Meredith running third and fourth. This probably wasn't one of Drey Dirks' better days as again he went down, purring Glover into second and Meredith at his back door in third. Burnworth finished with a 2ยท I for first overall , Meredith finished with a 1-3 score for second and Glover took third overall with a score of 3-2 . One of the fastest growing classes it seems is that of the IOOcc class. Many ex -mini and still mini riders have adapted to the size and handling of the IOOcc with great ease . A perfect example was the IOOcc Novice race with some 18 riders on the line. Chris Easterling (Yam) , who rides a mini as well , got the holeshot and rode with such expertise there was no catching him . As the rest of the pack fought it ' out , Easterling just continued to stretch out his lead. With th eir throttles wide open , Tom W yatt of Arizona (Ya m) and Barry Eckess of California (Ya m) tried 10 catch Easterling but to no ava il and ha d to settle for second and third respectively. Nine Masters went off the line but it was strictly a three-bike race between Marshall Jennings , Blackie Lewis and Marvin Olson. Lewis would get the holeshot and lead the first lap, with Jennings taking over on the second time around and Olson charging up from behind. In the first moto, Olson was closing on the leaders but unloaded in a muddy turn near the finish line. Meanwhile , J en nings and Lewis tried to lap a slower rider while running side by side. Jennings tangled handlebars and went boots over number p late, giving Lewis the win. "Movin' Marvin" O lson was not about to let a little thing like a fall put him out of contention . He dialed it o n and made it back up into second place. The start of the second moto was a carbon copy of the first. For three laps Jennings led Lewis and Olson as they exploded away from th e rest of the pack. They were running so close together that it looked like Jennings was tow ing a tandem trailer . On th e fourth lap Olson made his m ove . H e put a beautiful pass on Lewi s in the same spot where he had fall en in t he first m oto. W ithin half a lap he had J ennings and the lead . Bill Lyons brought out a new Husky Automatic and wheeled it into third place while George O'Haver, by virtue of a very smooth third place finish in the last moto , took home the fourth place trophy. The Novice race was swept by J oe Bray, but not without a tough battle with 57 -year-old Ray Arnold. Ray led for several laps in the second moto, but Joe got by him for the win.
