Myner (Yam) rounded out the class . This was t he first 125cc race that Steve Starnes did not win . We hea rd Steve caught the b reakdowns fro m his older Brother Terry. Glen Goodier (Yam) won the 100cc class. The other three places went to J.M . Slov ik (Yam), Tod Myers (Yam) and Wyatt Seals (Suz) . Rounding out t he day's races wer e Over 30 Amateurs, the O ver 40 class a nd th e young men in the Mini class. Ge ra ld Flippens (Yam) ran away and Iiid fro m the O ver 30 class . He was trailed by Sonny Shelton (H us) , Sonny Holmes (Yam) and Tommy McElvain (Ya m). Glen Waters on a Bu ltaco took the O ver 40 class. Jerry Laza (H us) too k second, Ra y W hite (Yam) was th ird ' with Ja mes C ooksey (Mai) finishing fourth . T he Mini. class was another Yama ha affair, with Br ad Cra ine win ning for the third straight race. Mitchell W hite , Pa ul Payn ter and Jeff Crock ett fi nis hed out the Mini order. The Roy ' Scott family was back with their mobile home concession stand aga in and the expected ra in held back unti l after the races . The first wave, the Lightweights, roared off the line and into the open field with R icha rd Fogle ' lea d ing the way onto the firs t down hill . A few momen ts later t he Heavyweights blasted off the lin e with Jim Mc Bride in the lea d . Fin a lly, the Beginner class tore off the line in th e last wave. Fogle held the sma ll bike lead until Ma rty Crowley got by after six la ps and wen t on to win . Mc Bride held his lead to win the b ig bi ke honors while Steve Dix , Ga ry Spell ma n a nd Steve Coffman put on q uite a sho w wit h a battle tha t lasted m ost of the race . In a separate race of one -half hour for the Minis , Ricky Fogle m issed th e first t urn co mple tely a n d fo und himself in last place. Bu t by th e end of the first lap, he had worked up to seco n d and took th e lead m idw ay throu gh the second lap in t he ope n field no rth of the pits.
