In th e th ird rnoto , it was White's turn to lead. He stayed out ont for most of the race, but the rough track took its toll on him also . Baker moved into the lead on the fifth 4p,. In the final laps , McManus also p~d White and that's the way they ended the race. . T he Open Experts were , as usual , very fast . Chuck Pettigrew was the I!!an to watch on his big Maico. He ¥>Ok both motos with su rprising ease and came out on top of Tag Turner (Mai) and David Aleman (Yam). . , Results in Results Section. Moore wood, Eropkin, and Browntake acing World MX By Keith Clemons 1 'TRABUCO CYN . , CA, FEB. 19 ;rhe Open Pros got the American Motocross Enterprises (A ME) Racing World's day started off ~i tli Lance Moorewood leading me br igade throug h two motos of dirt and sun . Bearingdown on a DG -tuned Suzuki , Lance made winning look easy as he hopped int o th e number one spo t at th e hole and held t he position through the flag both tim es around . Moorewood's been racing for seven yea rs, five on m in is where he won th e World Mini Grand Pri x in '72. and two years on bigger bikes. Presently he 's in tra in ing for Na t ional competition . Overall second and th ird place takers in the Open Pro race were as consiste~lt as. Moorewood. Bill Ha gen drove his Yamaha crazy trying to get up front but wound up second both times. Chip Howells' Husky brought him around in thi rd. Dave Eropkin took the 250cc Pro money. In the first race he rounded the first comer in third , followed by Lance Moorewood who also ran in this class. By the third lap they held second and third behind Mitch Musgrave. Bob Walker, who sta rted with the holeshor , fell steadily bac k . Moorewood streaked by both Eropkin and Musgrave to steal the lead and sta yed there to win . Eropkin's Yamaha ca me down with a sick carburetor and wouldn' t run well at top end but it d idn 't stop him from grinding his wa y past Mu sgrave.
