Hili 51. Suite 631 Lo. Angel••, CA 90014 Darrell Shultz chases Danny "Magoo" Chandler around the old Sacramento OHV track number one. they passed Brad Lackey. The reason for this was that Bad Brad and Bill Calicura showed to ride a pair of XR75s . Calicura had in mind to show up Lackey and installed a trick Powroll kit, but fate had it otherwise as it usually does when one wants to beat Lackey. Bill 's clutch gave out on the second uphill and he had to sit out the remainder of the race. The original plan was to run five laps, call it off, have a presentation to first place, then cow trial until about one. (Then into the serious side of political rallies, drinking.) The plan was mired down in who was to give the one lap signal, and to whom . The leaders were still Pat Brown on his Maico with Voss (Suz) second over Vanderpool. The problem was to recognize these guys as they came by. The mud became quite a problem. At any rate the one lap went out to Voss , who was having problems with a brake , and Brown was missed. Pat , a three time Black Plate rider, went by on five and six before his mom came up to say that he was working on lap seven, so the race became a seven lap affair. When the finish was given to Vanderpool, it was for second as Voss had lost his brake and was out on th e course. The winner, at any laps. was Brown. 21~ Pioneer prevails '78sea'son ~iirl ~ 'lY Pasadana.
