Available around Christmas at: C/M Cycle Later, Staten said, "This is the most fun I've had in a long timel I really like your track." Staten st a r ted out. riding a 250 Yamaha mono, found it wasn't to his liking and borrowed a 400 Yamaha. John Sperry (Suz) took the first Open Expert mo ta , with Joe Steffen (Yam) second and Staten third . Sta ten started the second mota with a big holeshot. He was chased by Sperry, Steffen and T om Heard. Staten kept his big lead , with Sperry second and Steffen third. The t hird mota saw the tables turned with Steve Miller (750 Yam ) getting th e holeshot with Heard (500 _ Yain) in second . Sperry and Staten caught up with the leaders on the second lap. Staten chased Sperry right past the two leaders, then nudged by Sperry on the last lap for first overall. Sperry was second with Steffen thi rd . It was really a mob scene when the 250cc Amateur/Expert class arrived at the first corner. The Experts came out on top with Sam Bums (Yam) in first, trailed by John Sperry (Suz) and Jay Lewis (Suz). The second mota had Sperry in front at the start, followed by Burns. Bums only followed for three laps, then took th e lead. Sperry switched the order in the final mota , taking the lead two laps int o the race. Overall winner Burns was second wit h Jay Lewis third. In shan track action, Curtis Cannon came out to give Rob Hass ey (Yam) a run for his money in the Mini class. Hassey took first overall, but onl y after losing one mota to Cannon and being pressed in the other two. Cannon took second with Steve Riggs (Kaw) third. Results in Results Section. .
