Scott Miller shined a slight resern lance to Turner when he took the pen Pro race with the quickness a nd moothness of a styled professional. irst moto action caught Miller way ut in front , from the top of t he start ill to the finish line. Second place was he hot-spot of the race. Brian Craze eld off Steve Fry for the entire race, ut as the duo ended the last la p, Fry ound a little more out of his Yamaha nd took the second slot awa y from raze. At the line it was Miller, Fry nd Craze; with Dale Lewis in fourth . Steve Fry ' pulled the holeshot in the econd moto with Jim O 'Neal, Randy erkeley and Miller following . Fry ent down in the th ird lap , dropping o sixth while Miller took the lead and egan his lengthening process. Randy erkeley held on to second with Craze ight on his tail. On the last turn of lap 11 , Berkeley's Maico loa ded up badly. II Randy could do was watch as the ack rode by while the Maico's carbeu to r cleared itself. As Craze's chance rose to ta ke second, his bike also ent, When the flag came out, Miller asily took the overall with Fry getting he second overall spot. Dale Lewis ook fourth , third overall. Bike problems plagued the pack of 50 Pros as eight of the 16 entries uffered a DNF. An action-packed rrst mota saw Jim Domann grab the olesho t with Turner hot on h is ender. On the second lap Turner ent down in the back section of the rack letting Tommy Cross into condo Domann found himself with a uickly-deterioraring tranny, and ross soon took the lead as Domann issed every other shift. Two more aps were all for Domann, who packed p and went home. Cross pulled out to tremendous lead as Turner fought is way back into second. At the wire ross had an easy win with Turner ollowing. Rober Reisinger took the how spot. Turner proved he was number one euce-and-a -half rider out this Sunday y coming back strongly in the second o ro , After ta ki ng the holeshot , urner stretched his lead from the irst lap to the wire. Tom Cross and ohn Estes were both going for second s t hey traded places on lap three. ross took command of the spot on the venth la p and never relinquished it. urner took the overall win over r oss , Estes and Morris Mal one. alo ne ' recently came' back 'after a ' year-and -a-half layoff from racing, and the Harley peo pl e picked themselves up a real strong rider as he took third overall on a bike and body that have only been back at racing together for a weekI Estes went out with bike problems on the last lap , very dejectedly hoping for a better showing. Another familiar name came out in the 250 Pro class. Bob Rutten brought his Harley out and rode one of his few motocross races to date . Rutten , a well -known desert ace , taught a few Pros a lesson on how to be smooth, even while 'on a totally new track, along with a d ifferent type of racing. RACISG PROD U CTS. Rick was screa m in' for the first half of th e race with FMF rider Randy Hess and Escondido Suzuki's Mike Tripes right behind. Hess managed to sweep by Rick and take the lead and in the next lap Tripes got ' by also . Rick hung tough right behirid the two and took a th ird place finish . In the second moto Hess took th e holeshot with Tripes and Rick, who rides for Lucky Yamaha , filling in behind. Hess and Tripes diced most of the way but Tripes could never get by Hess . Rick, looking hot, once again finished third. In the 250 Pro class Marty Moates , riding for Husq varna , met Hess and T ripes in some unreal racing. Hess got the holeshot in the first moto but Tripes quickly took over. Moates ran right behind with Hess filling the third spot . Tripes went faster and fast er ' whi le Hess got by Marty. Ra nd y finished in second with Marty third. In the second moto Hess again took the holeshot with Tripes a nd Marty righ t behind. Halfway into the first lap Hess spun out and Tripes flew into the lead. Marty stuck right be hind as Abian Lelevier (Mai ) moved into the third position . Hess restarted and moved up fast .
