Results in Resul ts Section. o In Flyin' Flannagan wins IVMC H & H By Loretta Pipkin PLASTER CITY, CA , NOV. 20 El Centro's Pat Flannagan and his Open class Yamaha topped 66 riders in Imperial Valley Motocycle Club's 64 mile Hare and Hound near Plaster City last Sunday. Spread like a fan at the smoke bomb were John McDaniels, Ron Kephart , Roger Adsit . Flannagan and Brad Fenton. Stretching out, McDaniels took a wrong turn with Kephart following , putting them both out of the race. On the second loop Flannagan squeezed by Adsit while ru n ni ng from Morton and La Ffranchi, who had moved up from ~eventh and ninth positions. Monon smoked his H usky on the third loop , sa iling past Adsit to finish one minute behind the flying Flannagan. LaFfranchi finished 30 seconds off of Adsit for fourth overall. _ ~ There were seven entries in the Senior class with five finish ers. Les Wolf Sr. topped the pack. Lady rider Sandy Anthony showed the guys how to do it as she took first place iro the 125cc Novice class . - This year's awards banquet will be held in EI Centro, CA . Contact John Bilkey . NOV . 20 American Motocross Enterprises (AME) invaded Racing W orld and hosted their third-Sundayof-the-month motocross showdown. Nine different events lined up and the classes were pretty well full. Two more important events were won by crazy Doug Nicol , who crashed in with the wins in both the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes. ~ N icol . a threat in any AME racing, is well known for winning the action under the lights at night. In the 125cc Pro class Doug faced six hard-riding com petitors who wer e either mounted ~ ~ ~ Ji. _ .. ., • " on Yamaha monoshocks or Suzuki RM machines. In the thrilling first moto, Doug met a challenge from DC -rider Steve Shippy on a Suzuki. Shippy made the best of the laps and smoked the pack with Nicol close behind at the flag, just ahead of Rod Arnett. Final action was cla imed by Nicol , who hooked the second moto win and landed the overall top money because of the second moto importance . Shippy had the same point finish but walleted the second place winnings . Rod Arnett on a Cole Bros . Suzuki managed th ird overall in front of Bob McCregor , Wa yne Wells , Doug Burhoe and DC rider Mike Brown. AME is now racing at Racing World every first and third Sunday of each month . AME mini-riders' Thanksgiving GP By Judy Greenberg VALENCIA, CA , NOV . 27 A tremendous number of riders and spectators were on hand for AME Minicross' Second Annual Thanksgiving Gra nd Prix at Indian Dunes. Four-foot trophies were presented to the day's winners . The Mini Expert and 105cc Open classes ran the same motos in two waves. Richard Ising opened an immediate lead in the 105cc Open class at the start of the 45-minute moto . The second wave left the gate with Expert Erik Kehoe out in front plowing through the Open class before the completion of the first lap. By the fourth lap , most of the Experts were through the Open. Jeff Stanford held second, with J im Coffey, Steve Postlewaite, Randy Fleisher and Ceorge Holland behind. Randy Harden worked the hardest as he moved up in the pack. Once past Mark Tomaselli and Robert Marks. his battle began with Coffey and Holland for the number three spot. Kehoe was rocketing around u nt oucha ble. With 18 minutes left on the clock , Ising's bike gave out , and Pat McConnell took over to win the Open. Kehoe , with a flawless race, won for th e Experts followed by Stanford , Harden and Coffev.
