Lawrence. hungry for his second win _ of the day, got around Nelson and took the first moto victory. OswelI was third. In the second bout, Nelson was in front from beginning to end. Behind him, Lawrence and Oswell were going for it. They traded positions back and forth throughout the race before Lawrence finalIy wound up on top. in the overall standings , Nelson took top money followed by Lawrence and OswelI . Fourth went to Robbie Brand (Yam) folIowed by Danny Jean (Suz). Mark ElIis left absolutely no doubt as to who was in charge of the Open ~ro class. He ran away from the pack In both rounds, taking top position by storm. He was folIowed by Tom Claire (Mai) and Tony Perra (Ya m). In the third race of the Redland vs. Victorville match series , Redlands won by default, Their team showed up at DeAnza in fulI force , but were met by only six Victorville riders. If Victorville plans to salvage the series , they had better be prepared for the fourth and final round at DeAnza. Results in Results Section. (Cont inued [rom. page 19) 22 unsuccessful. Lawrence flew past the finish line in first , with Hubbs close behind. Myerscough folIowed with a healthy lead over Carman. The top five was rounded out by Ken Buirley (Yam). In moto two . it was Hubbs on 'top out of the hole again, but this time Lawrence was right on his tail. On lap three he moved into the lead , but his stay in front was short-lived. A determined Hubbs took back his place three laps later. Myerscough was now close in third, making for a three way , battle. Hubbs led the trio for most of the race, until just before the white flag when' Lawrence moved back into the lead. This time he kept it and got - the overall victory. Top five placings were the same as round one. The 250 ' Pr os roared off the line with Drew Nelson (Suz) in command. KTM·mounted Tracy Oswell, from Mid-Valley, wasn 't far behind, just Ising, Gentry take AME Minicross • wIns By Judy Greenberg VALENCIA, CA, NOV. 18 Richard Ising (Cycle Shack), was the overall winner of the 83cc Intermediate class during anight of action- packed racing with AME Minicross at Indian Du nes. Doug Gentry,charged off the line to win the first moto with a good lead. John Hemme had hold of second until Cindy Dumo squeezed by in the esses. Hemme then had Ising to contend with, and was forced back another position. Ising tore after Dumo and almost gained second when she missed a shift out of the tower turn , but Dum o held the edge to finish. The second time Ising was off and running. building a safe lead for the moto win . Gentry pressed hard in second for the first couple of laps, but went down in the esses, Hemme had David Seekins knocking at his door, but held him off as they crossed the finish. ' Mike Bess had a good grip on fourth , while Dumo had bike trouble along with Eddie Green . Many of these same riders competed in 105 Open action . David Seekins tore into the lead. as Richard Ising, Paul Smith and Doug Gentry scrambled in the first turn . Smith moved into second, only to lose it to Gentry. Gentry closed in on Seekins, as Eddie Green moved into third. Then Green had mechanical problems leaving Ising room to pulI up behind Gentry. As the pressure mounted in the first three spots , Ising slid out in the corkscrew , and Smith moved in to finish third behind Gentry and Seekins. Moto two found Ising in command alI the way. Gentry and Seeki ns fought for th ird as they shortened Ising's gap . It was a three-way battle to the finish with Ising in the lead. The overalls went to Gentry's 2-2 ride, and Seekins' 3-1. A wild race for first place kept up , the action in the 83cc Modified Junior 12 and over class . Scott Nish held the lea d alI the way in moto one, with Dane Walsh never far behind . But it was Walsh who gained the advantage
