Very few riders showed up , but those who did received a generous payback rivaling those of earlier, larger races. In the beginner and amateur races , a group of Canadia n riders completely do minated the action . They came in first in every class; th ird was the worst fin ish of any of them . In the opinion of this wri ter , there hasn 't been a mo re flagrant exa m ple of cherry-picking seen in six years of following races. The first rnoto of the Super Mini class found Tim Little in the lead , but Brent Marshall found a path around him on the seco nd lap. Pushing hard to regain the lead , Little slid out and d rop ped to third. Littl e foun d a littl e extra speed a nd b y the end of the mot o he was in second and breathing down Marshall 's neck. Little was in third off the start of the second rnoto, but moved into the lead before th e first lap was over and steadily pulled away for t he win . The best action was found in th e 125 class . Don Harding won the first moto, followed by Joe McMullen and Scott Ka rr . Ka rr had a bad day 10 say the least. Before the race he received a concussion d ue to a crash in the pits . He wasn't wearing a helmet. Then during practice he had a terrible endo coming off the big jump which left the rest of his body in a state of shambles . H is two third -place finishes were rem a rka ble. T he second moto duel between H arding and McMullen won't soon be forgotten. The cornering of H ar ding's Su zuki com bined with McM ulle n's su pe r-pulling Hu sky kep t the two side by side for the ent ire 20 m inutes. McMu llen fina lly nosed Ha rd ing out an d took the overall win . The 500 Expert class was cut and d rie d. Harding took both motos with Ro b in Thornton seco n d and McMullen third . Harding's 500 win along with th e 125 runner-up , made him top mon ey winner - a nice birthday pr esent of over $100 . • Results in Resu lts Section .
