At the en d of the first ro und, l'vIarland Whaley, Bernie Sch reib er' and Don Sweet were tied for first with no marks lost. Lane Leavitt , Jeff Fish and T erry Chen ey were neck and neck f or second with two marks lost . Only .iWh a ley was a ble to re pea t on th e second round . Schreiber and Leavitt each dropped two . and Sweet had a d isastrous six . Sharing top ho no rs in the second round were Martin Belair and Greg Ruoff who were down with one m ark lost. . "" Whaley, who survived a first class i n itiation in mud riding in the '77 Scottish , slipped in the third round as . the cou rse dried out and dropped two m arks. Schreiber and Ma rk Eggar also lost two , t ie ing Whaley for best performance.. but th e day was all iWh aley's with a total of two lost (luri n g the three rou nds.
