but by mid-afternoon the sun came
out and dried the track to perfection.
J im Anderson (Hon) roosted on the
125 pack as he took an early lead over
Bill Joyce (SUl), Pat Jacobson (SUl) .
and Ron Pomeroy (Yam). Jacobson
flew past Anderson on the downhill
jump to take the lead midway through
the moto as the first four riders pulled
out a big lead . Joyce held a
' comforta ble lead over Pomeroy with
Ron Sun (Hus) ending up fifth after a
poor start.
Ron Pomeroy was really going for
the money in the second moto as he
pushed his bike to the limit trying to
hang on to his lead over Joyce and
Jacobson in the second moro . Joyce
showed thai he really liked the dried
out track,.taking the lead on the sixth
. lap. Pomeroy held on to second over
Jacobson who captured second overall.
Joyce received the first place money,
Pomeroy t hird, and Anderson fourth.
The 250 . and O pe n Pr os were
com bined because of a small turnout
in both classes . Pa t J acob son (SUl)
squirted into th e first corner a head of
the pack and bega n to pull away for a
convincing win . Mogan David
. LaPierre (SUl) fell on the first lap and
began a charge through the pack
which left him j ust short of passing
Ron Pomeroy (Mai) for second at the
finish. Bobby Clark (Yam) built up a
large lead over the other open rid ers
until his bike started mis-fir ing. Ron
