Coming around for the checkered flag Shoemaker was closing fast on Haugh. but not en ough to take ove r. No problem for Shoemaker however, as he took home first -place loot for the class . second overall going to Haugh and third to Jannings . • Resul ts in Results Section. SEPT. 11 A huge group of riders'. families and friends turned out to race and witness the Trophy Presen tation and Grand Prize Drawing for the Bosch '77 Su m mer Series. In the d rawing for the Grand Prizes. Jeff McMilla n d rew the lu cky number for the Hond a Odyssey, Jerry Irelan took home the ATC 90 , Richard Ising claimed the Honda Ex press. a nd Pete Snorteland won a p air of Luft shocks . A fiel d of SO riders in the 250 P ro class stormed off the line. led by Clark Jones wit h Ken Zahrt running second and Donn ie Hanse n in third . on his way to back to back wins for the day. Monte McC oy (KTM -Mi d- Va lley), moving up fas t , took the lea d with Hansen (Yam- Int. M .C .) in close for second. H a nse n m oved on by for the lead heading along the fence line. At the end of the mota, Hansen took the number one slot, McCoy was there for second and third went to Zahrt. The ' secon d time off the line. McCoy's stablemate . Tracy Oswell grabbed the holeshot with Hansen in second .: By the end of th e first lap . Hansen had taken ov er the lead , Oswell was holding second and Zahrt was flying in third . Shoemake r was running fourth with McCoy breathing down his jersey. McCoy moved on by and started challenging Zahrt. McCoy finally made his way past and set out for Hansen. McCoy started to gain ground as Hansen slowed a bit. Heading into the winning checkered ' flag . Hansen held his ground for a beautiful victory. McCoy , who won the 500 Pros , crossed over to second overall and Zahrt took thir d . Close to SO pros crowded the line for the 125 Pro race. T h is tu rned out to be a r ace b etw een two brothers , N ick and Jim Hale . Nick led the p ack off th e line with T im Locey righ t behin d him and Willy Simons in thi rd . Locey, pushing h ard. moved on by for the lead on the ba ck sec tion of the tra ck . The second tim e out, Simons too k ove r wi th Bobby Kl ine runn ing second , back in the ra ce aft er seizing in his first mota .
