shape in time for the re-start. Rick B la c kwe ll , from Austin. Texas . pushed his YZ 400 to the front of the pack. Maico-mounted Chuck Lunde, .held. the place. Both held their positions throughout the race. Second moto saw Blackwell jump out into the lead with the Lunde Brot hers in hot pursuit. This time it was Tim taking command over Brother Chuck. Family rivalry was at its best as Tim held-off a last lap charge from Chuck to gather top honors in the 250 Pro race. Rick . Blackwell was never challenged as he rode away with top money in the 500 race. . The 100 race was a nip and tuck battle throughout both motos. Rick Savors battled Suzuki rider Craig Westerguard with both victories coming down to the wire . Westerguard got by Savors in the last lap of the firs t moto to grab the ' top position. T he seco nd m o t osa w Savors ho ld-off a last minute charge by Westergu ard to win by less th an a ' bike's length , and grab first over-all, Mini riders Eddie Glover and Tim Shelton, with dual-mote victories , gathered top honors in their classes. John Kowan was the class of the race in both 125 J unior events . Kowan wheelied around the track to first place in both motos with second place at least a half-a-lap behind. Other dual mote-victories were posted by Suzuki-mounted John Hamamoto in the 125 -In termed ia te , Maico-rider Steve Sprague in the 250 Junior class and YZ rider Ron Sta b lien ran away from the pack in both motos of the 250 Intermediate event . • Allison then set out after Sam Burns. The finish was close with Springman in first . Burns second and Allison third . Final moto Springman led the whol e race and picked up the win. Barry O' Brien was third behind Burns after Allison pulled off with bike trouble . The overall finish was Springman . Burns and Allison . • Resu lts in Results Section. Am a teu r Garth Beavers , who's been comi ng on strong, will soon be moved to the rank of 125 Expert, Am a teurs sta rted in from , • By Rox Ann Dougherty Beaversand Griffith clash at Elsinore IT Scrambles of the ' Experts but Yamaha mounted Beavers still took an easy win followed by Experts Chris Cannon and Steve Griffith . Moto two. Cannon , Beavers. Rob Pfetzing and Griffith were all trying to squeeze their Yamahas into the lead . Beavers and Griffith (cousins) kissed _ back tires on the sweeper but Steve held tough to knock Garth down one place. The checkered fell with Ca n non blasting away out front, R ob Pfetzing and Steve Griffith following in second and third. The final 125 Amateur/Expert moto was all Garth's. Overall Garth Beavers was the number one man with Steve Griffith second and Chris Ca n no n third . T he 250 Amateur/Expert class was ro ugh and rowdy. These new up and coming experts aren 't 'sca red of anything or anybody . First ra ce , a mateur Don Milam p ulled the holeshot , Lap two Jeff Alliso n and Jeff Springman p ulled upon Milam and Allison took control. Allison al mos t lost it over the j ump b u t he straightened out and hung on to take the win . Moto two Sam Burns pulled the holeshot and Springman again had to play second fiddle. Springman nosed under Burns and used that as his springboard to gain some ground. s onsor , ~ .. Ma rk Lawrence. But t his week it was Lawrence's tu rn to overcome the pro class . Lawrence (Crown Cycle) moved up on top to take the firs t moto win . with DG's Willy Simons jammin' in for second , Jim Hale (Cole Bros . Suzuki) second , and Bob b y K line (FMF) fourth . Moto two saw q uite different action as Bobby Kline grabbed the holeshot and started to stretch his lead. Lawrence and Nick Hale were dicing for second place. Mark tried to get away but Hale was determined to keep him in his sights. When Lawrence saw how far ahead Kline was . he put his Yamaha in high gear to go out after Kline . By the time Lawrence caught up to Kline it was checkered flag time with Kline getting the first he needed. Lawrence second, Hale in third , and Tim Locey in fourth. In the results it was Lawrence taking down the overall win and Kline holding down a nice second place. Willy Simons totalled third and Tim Locey (Simi Valley Yamaha) held the last money position. The on ly man who can win the intermediate class for the 125s is Dave Vicioso . Yep. he did it again , winning ove r R ob bie He a ley, Mike Bicker, C hris Voelker , and R a nd y Schwalenberg. First moto action saw He a ley tak ing the win with Vicioso in his usual top second position. Third was Randy Schwalen berg and fourth Jim Dodge. The second moto was all Vicioso's as he took this moto and th e overall win for 'the day. Second place this time was Mike Bicker. third Robb ie Healey (who grabbed second overall) , and fourth went to Dave Labrot from Team Tire Man-Yarn . Dave Haugh nabbed himself another overall win for the 250s on his . Cole Brothers Suzuki. First moto saw the win going to Don ny Hansen (Simi Valley Yamaha). Dave was trying hard to pass. but Hansen's moves were just a little !lit quicker than Haugh's . Mike Shoemaker (S .V . Yam) , one of bonny's teammates, jammed in for third place with Andy Jannings (C ·A Kolbe) in fourth . Second moto , Haugh jumped out right behind Hansen. These two diced all the way through the moto . It looked like Donny was going home with a 1-2 finish for the day unti l, just before the checkered flag , Donny made one littl e mista ke and Haugh slipped by for first overall. Hansen still made it in for second with Shoemaker coming in for another consisten t third . Fourth overall went to John Atwood who finished his dav with a 5·5 finish .
