Delicate Dennis also led the pack for a few laps, no mud in his face ; going 1·1 in' the amateurs after .a dry spell . Du Du Dan settled for second. Miss Mike and Ruptured Rusty followed. The latter two , known for their skill , seemed to be off the pace on this one. The Intermediates' Flaky Frank went right to the front on his newly. acquired Maico (formerly owned by Marv Olson of the Old Timers) and held that place in both motos, Slimy Steve, Nauseous Norm and Bang Bang Bob chased him. Chunky Chuck and Dashing Doug collided in mid-air going off one of the jumps and were DNFs in the first moto. Moto two was as exciting asj h e first except there were no mishaps. Flaky Frank took the holeshot and held the lead to the checkers. That was his last ride as an intermediate; he was moved up a class. In his usual smooth riding style, Slim y' Steve held second pla ce. 'Rickety Rick and Nauseous Norm diced for third place with Rickety Rick holding on and finishing that way. The Novice class had their "fast gu y" also, and also on a Maico. Cu te Connie Holt flew off the line and was into the first turn ahead of the rest of the pack, going I-I for first place. Droopy Dick and Jittery John had their own race going, but Dick held on , taking a 2-2 for second overall. Open Pros were elected to go first on the muddy track which pleased everyone.else . Mark Peters (Yam) came out first around the turn , then he really took off because Tony Schuler (Yam) and Goat Breker (Hus) were right behind freighting it. Dan Steele, of Top Shelf Restaurants , was moving up as Goat took the lead and rode away . Steele worked up into second after getting by Schuler, but never got near first place Goat. _ Mike Lillevig (Suz) got the second moto holeshot but again Goat took o ver and held the lead until he ran into problems. Steele inherited the lead leaving Schuler. behind and Dale Ruedtke (Suz) third. All three riders held their positions for the finish and the overall. Action packed 125 Pro racing saw Kurt Sofka (Yam) , Don Fuller (Suz) and Scott Anderson , of Escondido Suzuki, giving chase. Sofka rode off to take the win leaving Anderson and Fuller to give the crowd what they like, "dicing." But, side by side off the jump, before the finish , Anderson ate it , giving Fuller second. In the second moto Anderson took over the lead for about three laps but Sofka got by again and moved on for the win . This time Anderson took second and Fuller was third . In the 250 Pros Marty Miller (Suz) got both holeshots and the overall with Monte McCoy (KTM) second overall and Tracy Oswell (KTM) third . • Results in Results Section. A.M.E. Bosch Series By Lee Taylor VALENCIA. CA, AUG . 19 15·year old John O'Mara (SuzAl Baker) started a weekend win: ning streak back to back in the 125 Pro class. In the first moto, O'Mara led the pack up the hill with Mike Pillar (Suz-Cole Bros.) right behind him , Bobby Jones in third. and Bob Kline in fourth . Kline was coming up fast and took over second. Jones was breathing heavy on Pillar with Kline caught in a squeeze between O'Mara and Pillar. O'Mara held on to the end of the moto with Kline in second and Pillar running th ird. When the gate went down the second time, O'Mara was off and ' flying once more with Pillar behind him and Kline third. Doug Nicol had a battle royal going with Bobby Jones for fourth. Jones moved up to third and the top three were super close. O'Mara was fighting to hold his ground as Jones moved on by Pillar and set out to take over . But O'Mara held on , taking home top money for the class. Jones, who is leading as of August 12 in Summer Series points, took second overall and third was Pillar ~ho is second to Jones in Series points. The 250 Junior Division had their share 'of fast ' and frenzied racing. In the first moto, Brian Bogdanich did battle with Pete Murray who is fourth in Series points and was out to move up . Brian Vargus was keeping tabs on both Bogdanich and Murray, pressing them hard throughout the moto. The second time out, Bogdanich had Pete Snorteland on his ta il ,and couldn't shake him. Murray was coming up fast in third and all three of the top runners were right on top of each other. Dueling heavily right down to the wire , Bogdanich took home top honors for the class, Murray second and third Vargus. Steve Rawson , second in series points for the 500 Pros won the night after dueling all evening with Andy Jannings and Jerry Asher. In the first moto, Jannings (Yam·BiII Krause) , led the pack up the hill with Rawson right behind. Noe l Woolard , Jerry Asher, and Dean Taylor were huddled together in a contest for th ird that would not quit. In the fight for ,third Asher went over the top of a berm in the sweeper approach to the drop-off and fell back a ways. Jannings won .with Rawson still in second. Next time out, Asher .shot to the lead with Rawson second and Woolard third . Woolard is fairly new to the 500 Pros and has been chalking up the po ints , having very good rides .
