' I' ve been train ing all summer for thi s event and I 'm really up • . . f or Iit .I ' PLUS DIANE COX-THE FIRST WOMAN TO RACE IN AN AMA NATIONAL MAIN EVENT here Can Only The MONROE ·SW INTER NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE OLYMPIAD is a two-day , six-event decathelon-type of motorcycle race . A first, this grueling competition will be a battle between 30 of the world 's top riders , as voted by you in a special CYCLE NEWS reader poll . Scored on the Olympic type system, riders must ride one motor cycle in all six events and only minor changes will be allowed . Each 'rider will bring his motor - 20 cycle race -read y to the impound area on Saturday morn ing . September 17 and all engine . fram e and other non -removable parts will be sealed . A ten minute adjustment period will be allotted after the running of each event. After the Yamaha Road Race on Saturday. each rider will have one hour to make all changes desired for Sunday's events. Any parts may be changed except the suspension. fram e and the engine (centercases will be sealed) . There will be time during Be One this hour for tire and wheel chan ges . All work must be done by the rider only and mus t be completed i n the one hour time period . If the rider goes over the time limit , penalty points ~ill be added . After the hour work period , the motorcycles will be locked up into trucks and transported to Sunday 's competition area . Each rider will be assigned a marshall who will be with him throughout the entire two days of the competition.
