Lunde's winning streak in the 250 class was still intact, and Blackwell took his first CMC overall win on a track he'd never even seen until 6:00 p.m. Thursday night . The 250 /500 Intermediates ran together and the class of the race was Rick Hanson on his super sano FMF Suzuki. Getting both h oleshots, Hanson held the lead throughout both races . The 125 Intermdiares, as always. proved quite a scene. elbows and handlebars constantly being bashed with Westergaard and Stublien placing first and second when the war was over. The 125 Juniors saw YZ rider Dave H amada keep everything under control to win both rnotos. Sun bakes MX at ,DeAnza By Ron Lawson • SUN NYMEAD ; CA , AUG. 14 The sun did its worst to bake the rugged hills of DeA nza but tha t didn't sto p Clin t Carman from laying wast e to the 125 Expert class on a borrowed YZ125. He grabbed the lead in moto one with Suz u ki-m ou n ted . Craig L ee right behind. The two were soon isolated . On lap two. Lee put an opening to good use and got into the lead. Lee's stay in front , however, was short lived. On lap five, his Suzuki stalled on a steep up hill, allowing Carman to slip back into the top position . For 10 laps , Lee tried nearly every trick in the book to retake the lead, bu t Carman was first to see the checkered flag in spite of his efforts. Marty Wolford was third. Round two had Carman, Lee and Wolford remain very close throughout the race, but once again, it was Carman who took the win . The 125 Intermediates were taken by Danny Burtt , who just gave up his Yamaha (the one Carman used) for a ride with Red lands Suzuki. Moto one . saw G .T. Enterprise's Scott Qu ick (Hon) lead briefly before dropping out with mechanical difficulty. From then on, it was all Burtt 's show . He won all three mores followed by Keith Williamson and Da nny East, both on Yamahas. . The 250 Juniors were also taken by a R edla nds Suzuki rider . Br a n d o n Bald win scored a' 1-3-2 to net first ' overall on top of Henry Marmolejo (Suz) an d Brian Hoffm an (Suz) . Tom Adams and Danny Williams rounded ou t the top five in that class, making for a Suzuki sweep . 250 Expe rt Ken Taylor got his long overdue victory with a clean sweep in his class. His closest competition was Danny Jean (Suz) who was forc ed to retire in moto two when his rear wheel disassembled itself. Second place then went to Mick Jacobs (Suz) followed by Kevin Callaway (Yam). • Resul ts in Results Section .
