(Continuedfrom pag e 9) by AMOL Precision -backed Kurt Leibmann, The pair rode Moto-Guzzis prepared by Reno Leoni. Fourth was John Long on his Longevity Racing Ducati. The action started before the green flag had a chance to wa ve as Cook Neilson's Ducati threw a chain on the warm-up lap. Daytona winner Neilson had been a pre-ra ce favorite . . Once the flag waved it was Wes Cooley and hi s Yoshimura R&D Kawasaki rocketing out in fr ont of the pack with Pridmore , Baldwin , John Bettencourt and Leibmann behind, Bettencourt swooped into second on the next go around and just as quickly went out with a blown engine , Cooley's engine then swallowed a valve and by lap three the winner's circle positions had been set. Baldwin was a safe second, but Leibmann needed a few laps to get . away from the fourth place battle that / threa tened to gobble him up. John _ Long, Kurt Lentz, John Fuchs. Erik Buell and Art Wicks rode the middle laps as one long sweeping snake with each waiting for the other to comit some 'm in or error as their power seemed to be equal. On lap 10 of the 15 lap affair Long added a little humor to the fast paced proceeding as he honked his hom to warn slower riders he was passing. You just knew he had to be smiling behind his visor , Pridmore continued to cruise along J upping the average speed of the race to just over 90 mph at the finish . Baldwin, with no hope of catching Pridmore in th e final la ps. took it easy as did tea m m a te Le ihrnann. Long conti nued on his sa fe fourth place ride wh ile Lentz held off Fuchs as Buell and W icks too k their d u el right to the flag. - Result s SUPERBIKE PRODUCTION A NALS 11 5 Prill""". LAPSi: 1.
