Goat Breker came out to co ntest his KTM in the Open Pro class . He was met by Mark Ellis (Yam) and ' a full assortment of talented riders, all out to take home top money. At the drop of the green flag in round one. Ellis shot his Yamaha into the lead. Breker was right on his tail , and managed to pass before the second lap. That, however, didn't discourage Ellis a bit. He stuck to the KTM like glue for three laps, then, when Breker went a little wide, regained the lead. While those .two battled for first , Ron Tebbs (Hus) was hard at work , making up for a first turn screw-up that placed him in the back of the pack. He quickly knifed his way through the field and placed himself in fourth behind Kevin Calloway (Yam) . Bot h Tebbs and Calloway, however, were quite a distance behind the action that was taking place up front . Breker, with a persistent determination , relentlessly pressured Ellis. His aggressiveness was soon rewarded when he repassed Ellis for the lead. This time he wanted to stay there, and opened a comfortable lead. Ellis seemed content to remain in second, and didn't rechallenge the leader. Tebbs was now ahead of Calloway, but still too distant to present a threat to Ellis. The checkered flag saw Breker out front followed by Ellis, Tebbs, Calloway. and Mark Sullivan (Suz). In the second bou t, Ellis repeated his first moto ho leshot. Breker was once again right behind. Ellis hel d off the hard charging KTM pilot for five laps. Breker then stole the lead and ran away with it . For the rest of the race, first place never bel onged to anyone else, insuring "Goat" of an overall victory. Ellis too k second place money and Tebbs got third. Scott Smith consiste ntly rode his Ossa to a third and a second to take top money in the 250 Pro class.
