Western hotline . , for the SCORE races." Fishback does seem to have a sixth sense for knowing . how to stay calm, cool and relaxed yet he never wastes time and Mark White , who finished 25 seconds behind him in the Open race . can attest to that. White , who is a protege of George Erl from Uptite Husky, thought the race had a ver y hairy b eginning. Especially after Mark Zoller, running second behind Fishback, lost his rear brake and had to lay it down which held the same fate for several riders right behind him . White by- passed the mess and gassed it after Fishback with Craig Adams hot on' his tail. Fate played many strange games throughout the day and even though Adams made it through the Zoller pile up , he ran out Of gas . Gary Davies took over third and followed White. . Another impressive rider was Larry Shoemaker, who ran away with the senior class. and with his partner Herb Townsend claimed second overall in th e team race. Mickey Alzola, second in the sen iors, stated that his 500 TT really liked those long stra ig hta ways while Shoemaker said he prefers shorter, tighter and rougher terrain for his 400 Yamaha . And even though Adam Padilla's new Suzuki proved to be gearecf too low over this fast course, it still gave him a third . Fishback's team partner , George Luther from BIB Yamaha in Victorville, took first overall in the 200 class while 'Ca pta in America' Warren Barr gave him a good run , for his money . and finished second . . Steve Rion , who held third for several laps, couldn't believe it when 17 -yea r -old Jeff 'Go at' Hollie. who had gone down at the start, made up the lost time and passed him in the last lap . .Fate also played its weird ga'lle with the Minis. KevinSenn got the holeshot then threw a chain . Chris Gables held the lead until the last lap when he started to lap a " slower rider and a string of course ribbon became tangled in his 'm a chine and created an instant wipe ,out for Gables. At th is point Kelly Moore moved in to take first. . • Results in Results Section. 250/370 RM SUZU~I 9" of Travel 8" of travel for Betor, Ceriani, Kawasaki , CZ, Suzuki, Yamaha, Montesa, Penton, KTM, Hodaka.
