30 Years Ago JUNE 27, 1990 Doug Chandler was featured on the cover 30 years ago for winning the AMA National Superbike at Loudon... Chris Carr won the Albuquerque Mile, but the race was marred by an injury to veteran racer Steve Eklund, who suffered head injuries in a crash with Bobby McDowell. Eklund fell into a coma and passed away 15 months later... Jeff Stanton won the San Jose Supercross at Spartan Stadium... Larry Roseseler, Ted Hunnicutt and Danny LaPorte teamed up and won the 400- mile Presidente Baja Internacional off-road race.
