Doug Chandler was featured on the cover 30 years ago for winning the
AMA National Superbike at Loudon... Chris Carr won the Albuquerque Mile,
but the race was marred by an injury to veteran racer Steve Eklund, who
suffered head injuries in a crash with Bobby McDowell. Eklund fell into a
coma and passed away 15 months later... Jeff Stanton won the San Jose
Supercross at Spartan Stadium... Larry
Roseseler, Ted Hunnicutt and Danny
LaPorte teamed up and won the 400-
mile Presidente Baja Internacional
off-road race.

We pictured Troy Corser on the Aprilia on the cover 20 years ago for
winning both legs of the World Superbike round at Misano, and Ricky
Carmichael got a piece of the cover for winning both 250cc motos at
Budds Creek; Stephane Roncada aced the 125cc class... Mat Mladin
topped the AMA Superbike National at New Hampshire International
Speedway... Belgian Joel Smets was victorious at the Swedish 500cc
MX Grand Prix.
