OR , A PR , 29 In the first pro-race of the season there was a great turnout of both riders and spectators. Riders from all over Oregon . Washington. Idaho , and California were on h and . This night even the novice's wer e turning it on! Debbie Saenz, (Hon) the only girl rider besides Diane Cox , won her heat after piling up with Tom DeCoy and having to restart . The Novice Main was pretty well spread out. David Faria, (Yam) from Calif. , was about eight bike lengths ahead of Jack Darling (Hon) in second place. and Darling was about 10 bike lengths ahead of Butch Brown (Hon), the third place rider . The rest of th e pack was close behind. The Expert Main was another runaway. But this time for Randy Skiver. Skiver (BSA ) was about 10 yards ahead of Randy Scott (Tri) . and both Skiver and Scott lapped the last place rider. In the Trophy Dash , Scott passed Charlie Brown (T ri) coming out of turn four right before the finish lin e. Scott also set fast time in time trials. a 14.91 -second clocking. Jeff Campbelf (T ri ) won the Junior Main and set fast time with a 15.24 . Jan Parker won the trophy as well as a doozey of a kiss. In th e regular Women's competition. Parker won the first moto but d idn't make th e second. Linda Clare (Suz) ended u p first overall on a Suzuki and Jammie Joyce was second . Mike Holmes took the win awa y from Rick R yan in the Min i Intermediates. with a 2-1 score. Sam Nava (Suz) took both Mini Novi ce motos for the win. Ken Scott was second. There were 18 riders in the Mini Money race plus $30 .put up by Jensen Cycles of San Jose. Dennis Houser had to come from behind to win. Houser and Holmes dueled right down to the last lap and a photo finish. Randy McGinnis made it a double win for the night . adding first in the 125 J unior class to the win he collected in the 100 Junior race . R on McClean won the second moto but had to set tle for second. In Division 11 of the 125s . Terry Sp urgeon (Yam) won both motos. Mike Brow n was seco nd and Curt Ol u no third. Bob Geffert (Suz) did a good job in 125 Expert competition. taking both motos for his first. Joey Schlag had som e heavy competition. but still won th e 125 Intermediate ra ce with a 2·1 tally.
