A coo l breeze kept the dust off the track and the rid ers were ready to go for it. The 125 Experts shot off the line with Terry Du cker ( Ya m ) leadi ng around th e first co mer. Rick Hulsizer ( Ya m) sq ueeze d in to se co nd with Rodney Brand (Suz) hol d in g down th ird . Du cker starte d to stret ch ou t his lea d wh ile Br and a nd Hulsizer gassed it to see who wou ld get seco nd . Br a nd slip p ed p ast Hu lsizer but Hulsize r d id n't want to give second up eas ily, Hulsizer stayed right on Br and 's back fender an d fina lly shot as Bran d 's rea r wheel slipped over a be rm and slowed him down tempor arily. Bra nd again went after Hulsizer th is tim e wit h Jim Send leb ach (Ya m) right behind . Bot h of th em got by Hu lsizer as th e m ot a end ed . Not so, he had to b eat the Open Intermediates bo th motes to collect his money, Mert got th e first rnoto sta rt with Intermediates Dan Fowler (Hus), and J eff Ha res (H us) waiting for him to make a mistake, which he did, It seems he overs hot a small corner and went off the track, This gav e Fowler th e lead wh ich he held to the finish . Mertz came across seco nd (fi rst Expert ) with Hares getting third .
